First a couple Auteur Sportif updates for the fans out there:

  1. We just dropped a film with Anton Krupicka discussing running journals on the eve of his 30th year as a runner. Running is an art.

  2. The “Support the Arts. Take up Running” t-shirts just opened for pre-sale. Get a 15% discount in the cart. Shirts should ship around April 1.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Brent James, Footwear Designer

As a designer Brent has an emphasis on storytelling and wants products to contribute to the whole brand experience - something I greatly identify with. We chat about:

  1. Balancing an attention to product details with a broader strategic view.

  2. The concept of "hitting crescendos" in product launches, similar to creating a film or musical piece.

  3. The importance of building community and connecting with customers.

  4. The value of pushing boundaries in design while understanding best practices.

  5. The challenges and rewards of transitioning from design to product management.

  6. The complexities of developing sustainable footwear.

  7. The importance of creating a relationship with the consumer beyond a transaction.

Two of many products Brent specifically worked on:

The Tracksmith Elliot Runner
The Salomon S/Lab Phantasm

The Guest Pace series is now available on Spotify, Apple and YouTube so tune in wherever your ears and eyes prefer.
